The Walmart Foundation has awarded the Marshall Food4Kids program a $1000 grant as part of their Local Facility Giving Program. Funds from the program must benefit the community within the service area of a facility - in this case the Marshall Walmart Supercenter store #1722. This is the first time Marshall Food4Kids has been selected for a grant through the Local Facility Giving Program. The Walmart Foundation, established in 1979, meets the needs of the underserved by directing charitable giving toward 4 core areas of focus: Hunger Relief & Healthy Eating, Sustainability, Women's Economic Empowerment and Career Opportunity. As part of its Hunger Relief & Healthy Eating program the Walmart Foundation donated more than 571 million pounds of food – the equivalent of 369 million meals – to local food banks and hunger relief organizations and contributed nearly $80 million in national, state and local grants to nonprofits across the nation.
